How did a medieval fortress become one of Burgundy’s great pleasure châteaux?
Set in the Armançon Valley, Tanlay draws us into a dramatic chapter of French history. Beginning in 1559, François d’Andelot, one of the Protestant leaders of the French Wars of Religion, set out to build a new residence. His death brought the project to an abrupt halt.
Nearly a century later, the financier Michel Particelli d’Hémery acquired the estate and entrusted its completion to Pierre Le Muet. The architect rose to the challenge with remarkable skill, extending the Renaissance building without erasing its original design.
Gardens, a canal, painted interiors, a devastating fire, restorations, and generations of family ownership continued to shape this architectural adventure through the present day.
This new episode of Com d’Archi invites you to discover an exceptional château shaped by war, wealth, and the ambitions of those who lived there.

Comment une forteresse médiévale est-elle devenue l’un des grands châteaux de plaisance de Bourgogne ?

In this short English-language interview (very Frenchy! ?), Anne-Charlotte Depondt welcomes Christophe Millet, architect and President of the French National Council of the Order of Architects (CNOA).
As the 50th anniversary of the French Law on Architecture approaches in 2027, Christophe Millet discusses the role of the CNOA and the challenges facing the profession. From adapting millions of homes to climate change to strengthening architectural culture and supporting French architects on the international stage, he presents architecture as both a collective responsibility and an opportunity for the future.
The conversation also turns to the Louvre competition, museum architecture and the importance of giving French practices the experience they need to compete internationally.
A concise and optimistic conversation about architecture, public policy and the territories of tomorrow.
