Built in 1953 by architect André Leconte, the building at 64 rue Saintonge houses a large postal sorting centre on the ground floor and around twenty flats that no longer meet today's standards. The project involves a complete reconfiguration of the flats. To discover in this episode.

Bien Urbain est une agence d'architecture basée à Paris, dont l'équipe s'est constituée à l'issue du concours Europan 12, tout d'abord autour de Nicolas Cède et Jérôme Stablon, puis avec Guillaume Cantardjian. En 2020, ils sont lauréats des Albums des Jeunes Architectes & Paysagistes, AJAP, décernés par le Ministère de la Culture. En 2022, ils font partie de la sélection 40 under 40 distinguant les architectes & designers de la scène européenne émergente.
L'agence accompagne les Maîtres d’Ouvrage sur des programmes d’équipements publics, parfois culturels, de commerces, d’activités et de logements ainsi que sur des missions d’urbanisme.
Elle s’attache à développer des pratiques passionnées, passionnantes, dans des domaines toujours plus variés.
Jérôme Stablon, au nom de l'agence vient témoigner dans ce Com d'Archi Podcast, inédit. Comme il est d'usage, il nous parle de son parcours nourri de tous les paysages de France, puis de leur pratique d'agence, l'équipe oeuvrant avec respect dans une démarche humble, généreuse et dans une multiplicité de programmes. Le développement de l'agence, progressif, s'ancre dans cette pratique et l'esprit d'équipe, évitant les écueils. L'écosystème doit être protéiforme et modulable dans le temps. La politesse est une valeur importante.

What if modernity had not always been about rupture?
In this episode of Com d’Archi, I take you through the streets of Paris to encounter a discreet yet essential architect: Michel Roux-Spitz.
Trained at the Beaux-Arts and winner of the Prix de Rome, he developed an architecture of measure, grounded in repetition, order, and a certain idea of continuity. A modernity without manifesto, deeply constructed.
Through his white façades, his “Série blanche,” and his role in post-war reconstruction, Roux-Spitz embodies another path:
that of an architecture which does not seek to break away, but to endure.
In this episode, I also offer a more contemporary perspective:
how can we think today about transmission, rigor, and the dissemination of knowledge in an age of massive content circulation?
A personal reflection, shaped by the rediscovery of a key monograph (Michel Roux-Spitz architecte 1888–1957, Mardaga, 1983), and by my own journey as an architectural historian.

Et si la modernité n’avait pas toujours été une rupture ?
Dans cet épisode de Com d’Archi, je vous emmène dans les rues de Paris, à la rencontre d’un architecte discret mais essentiel : Michel Roux-Spitz.
Formé aux Beaux-Arts, Prix de Rome, il développe une architecture de la mesure, fondée sur la répétition, l’ordre et une certaine idée de la continuité. Une modernité sans manifeste, profondément construite.
À travers ses façades blanches, sa “Série blanche”, et son rôle dans la reconstruction, Roux-Spitz incarne une autre voie :
celle d’une architecture qui ne cherche pas à rompre, mais à tenir.
Dans cet épisode, je propose également une lecture plus contemporaine :
comment penser aujourd’hui la transmission, l’exigence et la diffusion des savoirs à l’heure d’une circulation massive des contenus ?
Une réflexion personnelle, nourrie par la redécouverte d’une monographie essentielle (Michel Roux-Spitz architecte 1888-1957, Mardaga, 1983), et par mon propre parcours d’historienne de l’architecture.

On March 28, 2024, the seventeenth session of the Europan architecture, urban planning and landscape competition was held at the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris. Anne-Charlotte Depondt was invited to moderate a media moment for conclude of the program, reflecting on the European dimension of the competition.
Former winners and members of the Europan 17 jury took part in the debate:
John EDOM, architect, anthropologist, New South, international member of the E17 jury
Yann HOULLARD, architect and urban planner, Collectif MAYA, winning project E17, Défendons les Palantins, France, team based in Spain
Nathanael PINARD, architect, Collectif Carré Noir, special mention project E17, The Butterfly Effect, Spain
Béatriz SALADICH, architect and landscape designer, Barcelona, jury member E17, special mention project E16
Charlotte SAMPSON, architect HMONP, representative of the "Switch on the swales" project in Graz for E17 Austria
Elena TEJERO, architect, winning project E17, BOCAMAR: the seams of the water, Spain
At a time of intensifying global conflict, this was an opportunity to highlight the european building practices and recall the fundamentals of the competition, with its ecological DNA rooted in territories. A rich exchange of ideas from young architects, urban planners, landscape architects and one anthropologist, all working to shape the world of tomorrow. An expert debate that will be invaluable for future applicants to the competition, to reinforce the motivation of those who want to apply outside their own borders, and to create envy! An unprecedented exchange for anyone in search of constructive, resilient solutions.
As part of a partnership between Europan and Com d'Archi, we'd like to give you a summary of these exchanges, which Daniel Andersch Architecte & Urbaniste de l'Etat* (State Architect & Urban Planner), Director of the Europan program @GIP, presented to the public.
